This paper is a reflection on my strengths and weaknesses as a collaborative leader for the MSC Collaborative Leadership course. I wrote this paper for my assigned mid-term evaluation. The prompt for this paper was to reflect on my top five Clifton Strengthsfinder strengths, what was confirmed for or surprised me, as well as practical examples of my strengths. I was also asked to consider how these strengths translate into the work environment; what roles am I good at and what do I enjoy naturally when it comes to building successful collaborative teams? Finally, I addressed potential derailers, areas where my strengths could thwart my own attempt to contribute to collaborative teams. This was the area of the paper where learning occurred for me; while many of my strengths did not surprise me, their interaction and potential pitfalls amidst each other have given me a lot to consider in my professional and personal life.
COLLABORATIVE LEADERSHIP LEARNING OUTCOMES: 1) understand & apply small group communication theories to enable you to lead collaboratively, 2) effectively lead team meetings, generating member engagement, and integrating diverse perspectives, 3) effectively promote shared leadership.
